God of War Origins Collection

This is my review of the God of Origins Collection. Lets Get Started

Premise: The Collection includes 2 games that were previously on the PSP: God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta. In Chains of Olympus (which is a prequel to the first God of War), we find Kratos, which is our main character, serving the gods by attacking a city in Persia. Then we find out that his daughter Calliope may still be alive and he begins a journey to find her while at the same time trying to save the world before it all turns to darkness and despair by the hands of Morpheus and Atlas who is an ancient titan. In Ghost of Sparta which is both a prequel and sequel (prequel to God of War 2), we find Kratos sitting on his throne as the new God of War after defeating Ares in the first game. But, before he can revel in his victory we soon see that he starts to have visions of his long lost brother Deimos who may also like Calliope, may still be alive.

Graphics: Both of these titles look great with there updated visuals and extra textures with Ghost of Sparta looking the best out of the two. Chains of Olympus does look great but not as great as Ghost of Sparta looks. I have not tested the 3D and will not test it because I do not own a 3D television but I believe it will not matter in the game.

Controls: If you played a God of War game before then you will not find anything different in how it controls. You have your chains of course plus all your other weapons you usually collect through your journey. Context sensitive sequences still happen and in my opinion I love them and enjoy them. If your not much of a fan of it, prepare to not have as much fun. You also have your extensive combos and whatnot that are also enjoyable to use.

Sound Design and Music: One of my favorite aspects of the God of War games is not its epic combat or its finishing kills. It is the music and how the audio design comes together beautifully. I also think the God of War music in whole throughout the series is the most epic and awe inspiring music I ever heard, and these 2 games aren’t different. From the music that plays as you put the finishing blow on a enemy, to where you discover a new area and it plays to make it feel epic, the music in this is once again fantastic.

Results: So by now you’ve been wondering if you should buy the game or not. I say go for it if you enjoy everything about the franchise or if your new to it and want to start with these games. If you been a fan but is tired of thesame formula the games have had throughout the years, you will not find anything different here. Overall God of Origins Collection is a perfect game to get for when you get that itch for ancient greek violence. I give it an A+
